Quick answer
Review means your client has completed the verification, but one or more checks didn't pass automatically. A Review is not a failure. You need to look at the result and decide whether to approve or reject it.
Go to Biometric > Completed, open the verification, click Review, add a note explaining your decision, then click Approve verification or Reject verification. You can download the report once you've made your decision.
Who makes the decision?
You do. APLYiD can't tell you whether to approve or reject a verification. Base your decision on your own AML policy and procedures, or check with your AML Compliance Officer.
Why a verification goes to Review
One or more checks under Result Overview has a red cross. Only a failed face match makes a verification Fail. Everything else goes to Review. The most common reasons are:
The system couldn't confirm a live person completed the selfie video (Biometrics, liveness). Watch the video before you decide.
The ID photo is blurry, has glare or might not be the original document (Tampering checks)
The ID is expired, or isn't an accepted government photo ID
The details on the ID couldn't be read clearly (Data extraction)
Your client's details didn't match enough data sources, or there's a possible PEP, sanctions or adverse media match (APLYiD/AML)
Your client used a VPN (Device/Location)
A flag doesn't automatically mean you should reject. It means the system wants a person to check it.
How to review a verification
Go to Biometric > Completed.
Find the verification with the orange Review status and click it to open it.
Under Result Overview, look for the red cross to see which check needs your attention.
Open the matching tab at the top (Biometrics, Tampering Checks, Location or APLYiD/AML Check) for more detail. Click any flagged item to see what it checks for.
Compare the Scanned Documents, Provided Data, Extracted Data and Video on the Overview tab.
Under Report, click Review.
In Notes, explain why you're approving or rejecting the verification. These notes are added to the report. The buttons stay greyed out until you've added a note.
Click Approve verification or Reject verification.
A warning tells you that you won't be able to change your choice afterwards. Click Yes to confirm.
What happens next:
Approved: you'll see Verification approved successfully and the status changes to Pass (with an eye icon to show it was reviewed).
Rejected: the status changes to Fail.
Either way, your note appears under Notes with Reviewed by and your name, and the Download button is available under Report.
Your decision is final. Once you approve or reject, you can't change it. Take your time and check everything first.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I download the report before I review it?
No. Until you've made a decision, the Report section shows "This verification needs to be reviewed before you download the report." Once you've approved or rejected it, you can download the report.
Can I change my decision after approving or rejecting?
No. Your choice is final, so check everything before you confirm.
Do I have to add notes?
Yes. You can't approve or reject without a note. The note and your name are added to the report as a record of your decision for audit purposes.
The details on the ID were read wrongly. Can I fix them?
Yes. Click Edit next to Extracted Data, correct the details and click Submit.
Can I ask my client to do it again instead?
Yes. Send them a new verification.
I can't see the Review button, or I can't open the verification.
Your user role may not allow it. Ask your Company Admin to check your permissions.
How long do I have to review it?
Seven days from when your client completed the verification. After that it's archived, even if you haven't reviewed it, and the report can't be recovered. Once you've reviewed it, download the report straight away. It's archived 1 hour after you downloaded it.
