A "Name Not Verified" or "Driver Licence Not Verified" result means the name or document number your client entered didn’t match what APLYiD found in the relevant database. This doesn’t necessarily indicate fraud — it often has a straightforward explanation.
Why this happens
Name mismatch — The name on the ID differs from the name entered when sending the verification. Examples include a missing middle name or a hyphenated surname entered differently.
Nickname or maiden name — The client used a preferred name rather than the legal name on the ID.
Typo in details entered — Letters may have been transposed when the verification was set up.
Driver licence number format — Some regions require the licence number to be entered exactly as printed, including letters or leading zeros.
Document not in the database — Older or recently issued documents may not yet be indexed.
Recently changed name — If the client changed their name recently, the database record may not yet be updated.
What to do
Check the name and document number you entered when creating the verification for typos or formatting differences.
Ask your client to confirm their legal name exactly as it appears on their ID document.
If the details are correct but the mismatch is unexplained, run a manual verification. See How to run a manual identity verification.
If you suspect a database error, contact APLYiD support with the check ID, and we can investigate.
Does a Name Not Verified result mean I can’t proceed?
That decision is up to your business policies. A name mismatch is a flag, not a definitive fraud indicator. Many businesses choose to proceed after confirming the correct details with the client or after completing a manual verification. APLYiD records all results, providing a full audit trail either way.
