Select Chrome
Go to Settings
Scroll down and tap your preferred browser app (e.g. Chrome or Firefox)
Tap Default Browser App
Select Safari
Go to Settings
Click on Apps
Click on the three-dot menu and select Default apps
Click on Browser app
Select Chrome
Go to Settings
Go to Apps
Go to Default apps
Click on Browser
Select your preferred browser
Now open the link again from the SMS and it will open in the required browser.
