Every biometric check in APLYiD returns one of four results. Here is what each one means and what action, if any, is required from you.
Pass ✓
The check completed successfully. All components — document scan, biometric liveness, and database checks — returned a positive result. No further action is required. You can download or share the report from the Completed section.
Fail ✗
One or more components of the check returned a negative result. Common reasons include:
The document image was blurry or poorly lit
The name on the document did not match the details entered when sending the link
The liveness check could not confirm the person was physically present
The document was expired or not accepted
A fail does not always mean the person is not who they say they are — it can mean the check needs to be retried or completed manually. See Why has my biometric check failed? for next steps.
Review ⚠
The system was unable to make a confident automated decision and has flagged the check for manual review. This typically happens when:
The document image quality was borderline
A name or date of birth was a close but not exact match
A PEP, sanctions, or adverse media hit was returned requiring human judgement
When a check is in Review status, you or a Company Admin must log in, assess the result, and manually mark it as Pass or Fail.
Error
Something prevented the check from completing — usually a technical issue rather than a problem with the client's identity. Common causes:
The client lost their internet connection mid-check
Camera permissions were blocked on their device
The session timed out before the client completed all steps
If a check shows an error, resend the link so the client can try again. See How to resend a link.
Not Started / In Queue
The link has been sent but the client has not yet started the verification. This is not an error — they may simply not have opened the link yet. You can resend it if needed.
Archived
APLYiD automatically archives checks 7 days after completion. Once archived, personal data is purged but a footprint record remains. Archived checks cannot be retrieved. See What happens once a check is Archived? for details.
