Getting started: set up your APLYiD account and send your first check

This guide is for APLYiD Core (support.aplyid.com). If you use APLYiD Workflow, see the Workflow help centre.

Quick answer

Log in at app.aplyid.com (NZ and AU) or app.aplyid.co.uk (UK). Add your team, set who gets notified, and make sure your data access is approved. Then go to Biometric > Verify to send your first verification.

What APLYiD does

APLYiD verifies your clients' identity remotely. Your client gets a link by SMS, and on their smartphone they:

  1. take a photo of their government-issued photo ID, such as a passport or driver licence, and

  2. record a short selfie video, so we can match their face to their ID and confirm they're a real person.

We then check the ID for signs of tampering, check your client's details against data sources, and run PEP, sanctions and adverse media checks.

The whole process takes around 90 seconds for the client, entirely on their mobile phone — no app download required.

This is a different login from APLYiD Workflow. When you first log in, you'll be asked to set up multi-factor authentication. Having trouble? See Can't log in? Password reset, locked accounts and invite links.

First-day checklist

A Company Admin should do these before you start sending verifications:

  1. Add your team in Preferences > Accounts, and choose a role for each person. See How to add a user (staff member) and choose their role.

  2. Check who gets notified when a verification is completed. See How do I change who gets notified when a verification is completed?

  3. Check your billing contact in Preferences > Settings. See How to change billing details.

  4. Set up direct debit if you'd like to pay that way. See How do I set up or change our direct debit?

  5. Make sure your data access is approved (NZ and AU). Without it, your clients' details can't be checked against data sources, and the report shows "User Credentials Not Valid".

User roles

Role

What they can do

Company Admin

Manage company details and users, send verifications, and view and download every verification

AML Supervisor

Send verifications, view and download every verification, and get notified for every completed verification

Agent

Send verifications, and view and download their own. This is the default role.

Initiator

Send verifications only. The user they're assigned to gets the results.

Send your first verification

  1. Go to Biometric > Verify.

  2. Enter your client's First name, Last name and a Reference for your own records.

  3. Choose the country code under Code and enter their mobile number.

  4. Click Send. Your client gets an SMS with a link.

  5. When your client finishes, you'll get an email (if notifications are on). Go to Biometric > Completed to see the result.

Your client can't receive SMS? You can copy the link and email it instead. See Can I send the verification link by email instead of SMS? (Yes, here's how). For more detail, see How do I send a verification to my client?

Download your reports straight away. Completed verifications are archived 7 days after completion, or 1 hour after the report is downloaded. After that, the details can't be recovered. See Can I get back a check that's been archived?

Understand the result

  • Pass: download and save the report

  • Review: check the result and approve or reject it

  • Fail: the face match failed
